How Medela Supports the Aims of World Health Day by Reducing Global Maternal Mortality Rates

Every day in 2017, approximately 810 women died from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth.2

The awareness day "World Health Day", initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO)1 is celebrated each year. In this International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, World Health Day 2020 will shine a light on the vital role played by nurses and midwives in providing health care around the world.

Supporting healthcare professionals to protect precious life with progressive care is an important commitment for Medela Healthcare as well.

Nurses and midwives provide essential health services all over the world, sometimes under hard conditions. We aim to make some of their work easier by supporting a reduction of global maternal mortality ratio. With our VAD (vacuum assisted delivery) solutions, we enhance the chance for women to receive best support even if conditions are tough - for a healthy birth, mother and child.

Skilled care before, during and after childbirth can save the lives of women and newborns.2

We not only care about mothers and babies, visit our healthcare business unit and explore what our medical vacuum technology can do in wound care, chest drainage, stroke therapy…
